intelliv8’s founders all have a long history in innovation commercialisation and IP. 

Our respective paths crossed in 2018 when establishing a global innovation partnering capability for the world’s largest resources company. 


Recognising the diversity of our backgrounds and the depth and breadth of hands-on experience created a powerful and unique capability, we formed intelliv8 in 2020.

  • We have worked in and for government, delivering the Entrepreneur Program (the then "Commercialisation Australia' program) and case-managing participants to assist them to achieve their commercialisation objectives.

  •  Transforming IP Management: For the world’s largest diversified resources company, we worked collaboratively with their teams to fundamentally transform their approach to IP management, delivering higher value, lower risk at greater speed. Our support has been across the spectrum from “strategy” to “execution.
  • Corporate Venturing Capability: intelliv8 set-up an innovation venturing capability for a major ASX50 corporate to accelerate ‘outside-in’ innovation and niche capability acquisition.
  • Strategic Capabilities in Mining: intelliv8 sourced new strategic capabilities for a major diversified Australian resource conglomerate, based on identifying a >$1Bn NPV opportunity in iron ore maritime and logistics operations.
  • First Revenue for Start-ups: intelliv8 helps smaller start-ups get to or build “first revenue”. For example, for a start-up focused on applying Machine Learning in the areas of taxation, we helped secure their first government contract, and then helped drive further revenue through scaling up their public sector engagement.
  • Transition Start-up to Scale-up and Exit: intelliv8 works with innovative start-ups to enhance their capability maturity to commercialise new products and services, either scale and grow, or position themselves to be effectively acquired. 
  • Portfolio Management for Corporates and Government: intelliv8 have helped large corporates and Government Trading Entities to implement innovative portfolio management capabilities to better target investment opportunities, and to then manage the realisation of those opportunities.
  • Sustaining Capital for Charitable Organisations: To help safeguard the altruistic activities of a large registered charitable organisation in perpetuity, intelliv8 led development of a strategy for the generation of flow-through economic benefits from a stand-alone commercial group comprising approximately 30 independent businesses. intelliv8 remains actively involved in strategy execution, supporting the organisation to plan, start-up and operate new businesses, and to accelerate its objectives through successful M&A transactions. 


 intelliv8 has developed powerful and flexible frameworks and methods that can be readily adapted to suite each client’s unique circumstances. Here are four illustrative examples:

  • Market & IP Insights. We have developed streamlined market and IP intelligence analysis processes, that deliver insights specifically relevant to innovation commercialisation, and can provide a quantitative evaluation of competitive advantage. Our clients find this invaluable for shaping their “go to market” strategy and tactical execution plans. It helps identify opportunities and threats, reduces wasted innovation efforts, and better target investment funds. 
  • Portfolio Prioritisation. For large government institutions and corporations, we have we designed and applied a process and tooling that can pull-in market intel and evaluates projects based on a range of criteria including value and position in market, to inform portfolio prioritisation, trade-offs and investment decisioning. 
  • Innovation Management Framework. Our comprehensive framework that defines a set of required tasks across the “end-to-end" phases of commercialisation to drive successful innovation outcomes. At each phase, we have a series of templates, tools, decisioning points, etc that provide simple, standardised, transparent, and effective ways to ensure the right outcomes are achieved, both at specific-project and at a “portfolio” of project levels.
  • Partnering Terms of Reference. Since much of intelliv8’s work involves helping develop effective partnering arrangements between corporates, SMBs, and GTEs, we have developed a comprehensive framework to drive the partnering process, to ensure all elements of the partnering arrangement are considered, and to create the best outcomes for both (or all) parties involved.
